The 2D1 is a halogen bulb, Tim. I've had one in my H2 for several years too.

I learn something new everyday, thanks Jim. I was pretty sure mine in the Phoenix is non halogen, not sure now? The original bulb was not a 35W As I originally thought. It is 60/55.says Michiba on it. Made in China. The Wally World bulb is a Sylvania made in Germany also 60/55 w.
hopefully it will get me home.

Be sure not to run on hi beam on the return trip. My Economy Cycle 35 watt China made H4 didn't last a day in my 350 this spring.

Why we keep buying that crap I'll never know.

Mark Haase said it was a cheap bulb issue and he was right. The new Sylvania H-4 even though it was 60 hi beam 55 low beam performed flawlessly at speeds up to 80 MPH, roughly 6000 in 6th. I kept it below 6500 since I wasn't sure if it was a vibration or over charging issue per the Blingmaster. The 60 watt hi beam lights up the road and the 55w low beam is plenty bright enough. No low voltage issues were encountered as far as I know. I ran 61 miles mostly between 70 and 80 MPH in 6th on the interstate. When I got 5 miles from home I figured the chance for both to fail was minimal so I let it rip once I got out of town and did a couple nice wheelies in the 53 degree air and ran it up to 9500 in the 1st three gears. Made it home safe and hopefully the headlight will keep working   thanks to all...

Put a led tail/brake light in and order some led instrument lamps if you intend to run the 55 watt lamp. Be sure to keep the high beam off as well. The 55 watt head lamp will tax the coil and the connectors. My Daytona will dropped the battery voltage too low if I run the 60 watt high beam head lamp. It has two tail lamps which I have replaced with led's.

I usually forget to turn on the 350's head light on purpose if I'm in a low traffic area and I installed a toggle switch in the Dayton's head light bucket to turn off it's head lamp just in case I need some extra electromotive force for ignition like in long traffic light stops when I'm at idle alot.

There are too many deer around here for me to ride much after dark. A few years ago we (my fire department and I) worked an incident where a Goldwing rider was taken out by a deer one night. I had to go back the next morning with detergent and a push broom to clean the pavement off. I get the willy's ridding after or just before dark ever since that incident.

Thanks for all the good Girly Bike info John 8-) 8-)
I don't like to ride much at night either but the weather has been so nice here of late it is hard to resist. I leave my headlight off on purpose too most of the time, (to clarify during the day). I wish I had taken the time to look at that bulb that came with the headlight bucket... I will order some LED instrument bulbs if any body has the LED bulb numbers and or links I would appreciate it. I have lost the info I had for the ones I put in the Phoenix Project. LED tail light bulbs are available at my local Auto Zone, so I will snag one there. The charging system appers to be OK on mine so far... 12.9 and 12.6 volts respectively low and hi beam @ at 5500. Tonight I am contemplating which Manly Triple to take to work... the Phoenix Project or the Blue Beast S2A :?: :?: :?:

Be sure that any LED bulbs emit the color of light that matches the lens they go behind. White LEDs do not work well with red tail light lenses, for example. Get amber LEDs for amber turn signal lenses, etc..

Jim is correct. I sell LED pilot lights in the industrial world. The lamp and lens need to be the same color.

John,
How did you get all the wires from the headlight bucket to fit in the new one from Economy. Most of mine ended up outside the bucket because the hole n the new bucket is in the bottom, not the top or middle like the factory bucket? Most of mine ended up on the outside of the bucket between the LH headight ear and the bucket plus I had to make 2 pigtails as the turn signal power wires would not reach? The other gob of wires is stretched VERY tight and rubs against all kind of stuff if I try to cram it all inside and it is too short. The Blingmaster said to drill another hole, but the bucket has a hell of a big hole in it already?

Sorry Tim but you need to figure out how to fill the hole.
