Ok guys, I've taken on the responsibility of "hyping" Ricks annual b-day celebration. "THE MORE THE MERRIER!!!" are the words straight from the ugly bald horses mouth.
Ive been able to make it the last 2 years and I can tell you it is one the highlights of the year for me. I figure that I've driven more than 16,000 miles just to get to and from Deals Gap over the years for the 2 Stroke Meet, so I don't want to hear "Its too far".....
Its the people that make the meet, so you Southern and Western US Guys need to hike up your skirts and head to God's Country (Cedar, Michigan). I guarantee you that you will not regret it.
August 17 is the Date!
The Roads in Northern Michigan (just outside of Traverse City...GOOGLE IT) are some of the best I have ridden in the country. I was quite shocked the first time I visited. I figured it would look just like Minnesota (mostly flat and straight), but they were on par with roads I've ridden in Texas, Colorado, Arizona, California (this area actually looks VERY similar to Napa Valley....seriously)...and yes, even the smokey mountains. No, they are not as "technical and tight" as the Dragon, but most of the roads are scenic higher speed sweepers with nice elevation changes (this was the most surprising to me!) Just think "Texas Hill Country", but with better views (think vineyards, huge forests, water everywhere you look, and sanddunes) and nicer Tarmac....and the Tarmac is VERY NICE.
Couple the riding together with Ricks own personal Go-Cart/minibike/Pickle Launching Track...
Acres of "soft" field for dirtbike playing...
Huge Bonfires at night...
Good Food..NO!, Scratch that.. GREAT FOOD
(which is one of the reasons why it is good to "take roll" of who is able to attend, so food preparations can be made)
Not that every meal will be provided, but a few VERY good meals sneak there way in over the weekend...and all that's asked for is a minor "whatever your heart desires donation" to help offset the cost for Mr. Brett. I don't think he even wants me to mention that, but food costs money, and I like to do my part cause I care
Also is the "collection" of triples stuff and bikes that is finally VERY CLOSE to being organized and displayed in a much more "appropriate" way (as opposed to a bunch of beautiful bikes sitting in a pole barn)
as for accomodations......
Camping behind the house is FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is plenty of room for tents and RV's. There are also MANY bed and breakfasts and hotels/motels within short driving distance.
Also, if wifey wants to come along, there are MANY MANY cutesy little towns and shops within 20 minutes of Ricks place that are guaranteed to keep them busy while we act like idiots..
My wife and kid came over a couple of years ago and Walms' wife and family came last year, and I know my wife LOVED the area.
So WHAT SAY YOU????? Life is Short. We aren't getting any younger.......
Who's In???!!!
