In Europe, it was found that the "new CDI" was causing bad interference on the TV's, so to combat this the European bikes were sold with points ignition systems from the Mid '69 run, these engines were built specifically and were given a new set of engine numbers starting at KAE50000 (approx), these all came with the low oil pump covers. At the demise of the H1a these engines were used up and sold in the H1c.
As an aside, the first 3,000 bikes KAE08000 - KAE11000 (from memory) were fitted with the new high covers, but these covers did not have the cut out for the rubbed vent in the bottom.
