"Modern bicycle computer"??

An analog "sweep hand" meter is indeed much easier to see/comprehend during an instant/brief glance, than a constantly changing digital number! ;)

If you care to do the shipping thing once again I'm sure Speedhut would replace the needle(s) to your desired orange at no/minimal charge... 8-)

Zero issues knowing where I'm at with my digital display and regarding when it's time to shift at the redline, I rely on soley on the shift light... You don't even need to take your eyes off the road for that.

Doesn't sound at all subjective. He seems to have laid out good criteria and set about meeting it; thats simple criteria based selection. AND, if you have the money in your hobby/play budget for hot new high criteria systems I say go for it. Can't take it with ya !

I guess that was my point, the criteria is the subjective part...

I only run a speedo because I have to. I run a tach for videos.

Even though I have been exposed to all the "new" stuff out there, and the costs for a long time. A lot of the time when I see how much something costs, it catches me off guard and I literally look like this :wtf: I drove my GF crazy when we were doing the remodel. She wanted me to be in all the purchases of the new appliances, but after we started looking, my head was about to explode, and I just had to let her pick out what she liked, I did not know what the things cost. :banghead

My :wtf: wasn't against Cody or his choice, just the price of the unit.

worked on the gauge mount....

Didn't want to use the big plastic "threaded ring" mount that came with the gauge (used in Auto applications) as everything I came up with was just too bulky. After 2 mock-ups and a couple of "proto-type" mounts, I said "screw it", and took the entire guage apart.
...man, they cram a LOT of electronics in a little space!!!..and it isn't easy to get all that crap back in there!!!!!

then just went ahead and added 2 stainless screw posts to the cannister.. Just like what is found on a stock Triple Gauge.

I just have to say that after seeing the amount of "stuff" they (Speedhut) have engineered to fit inside, and the work that would be involved in making something like this, I now think that $400-odd dollars is a bargain. A LOT of design/engineering went into these things...

Anywhoo.. I made a small bracket to mount the gauge to, and this bracket then uses the stock triple clamp mounting holes.. So in theory, I could move this gauge over to another triple with ease. Even though it says "S3/500" in the small print... I suppose I could "sharpie" over that since I now have no fear of gutting this gauge..
I also made a "gauge cover" (like the wrinkled finish covers on H1b/H2, except shorter and painted to match the tank/headlight) to hide the bracket and wires. I'lll post pics of the entire assembly complete and mounted once all the wiring is sorted and the clear coat has dried on the cannister cover...

In the meantime, here are pics of the face with power put to it...

The 29 miles were from the trip to Easter Dinner in the family truxster. I'll zero that out later.

That's cool. I would be sitting on the bike in the dark with that gauge lit up....making revving noises with my lips.
