The usual Speedhut units are/were intended for "indoor" use in a car. Speedhut is well aware of guys sealing them for outdoor use though. They may now be offering sealed units for bike applications?

FWIW, My tach survived a horrific rain deluge last fall while riding at night (no interior lens fog the next day either),as sealed as specified.. Even my boots were filling with water on that ride! :o

mmmmmkay..

the speedo did indeed "zero out" when power was put to it. Heading out to Easter Dinner and will be testing it on the car ride.
While I'm at it, might as well see what the 0-60 time of my wifes' station wagon is...

You would not believe how accurate ^^^^^^^ this statement is.... Downright scary.

I wasn't able to get an accurate 0-60 time as my wife yelled at me (for real) for spinning the tires attempting to launch the car.

Turns out the cake she had just finished was still in a "delicate state" and didn't like to be thrown to the back of the car.

As to the gauge. The digital MPH readout was dead-nuts with the cars' speedo. The needle however is a bit "lazy" and reads a couple of MPH lower than the digital readout. Not a big deal really. Other than that, the GPS speedo worked fine.
On the drive home, I got to test the brightness of the needles and I'm not impressed.

I ordered WHITE needles that are supposed to glow ORANGE at night. The car coincidentally has the same setup(white during day..glow orange at night) and the cars needles are BRIGHT! So I had something to compare it to.

The Speedhut needles have a very dull glow. Good enough I guess, but once again... Not even close to what is shown on their website.

Still a cool gauge though.. Is it worth $450.00?
Probably.... Had I known then what I do now, I would have ordered orange needles and made a few other changes.

I'll also state that their customer service has been excellent to date, and that in and of itself is worth $$$$$$$$$.

Now to make a mount.

Usually I keep my mouth shut but at $450 for a speedo and tach? What the hell were you thinking in the first place?

If you guys can point me to a gauge that takes up less space, weighs less, has more features, doesn't look like a modern bicycle "computer", is customizable, has better customer service, uses GPS signal for speed (no stupid cable or magnetic sensors), etc... I'm all ears.

I looked.... and nothing came close for less money.

And John... what is the point of the :wtf: ?

Yeah, I knew I should have kept my mouth shut...
It's a subjective thing, isn't it...
