So how does that 2 part spray can clear work Cody? What about the 2 part primer also.

EXCELLENT. One of the coolest inventions in the last 10 years.

I've done 3 body sets (in addition to a LOT of individual pieces) with it and it holds up as well as anything shot out of a gun. 8-10" spray fan, lays out nice, and does everything advertised. Not cheap ($20.00/can), but considering 2 cans will do a 4 piece bodyset... worth the few extra couple of dollars not having to mix and clean the gun.

and this was the first time I used their 2K primer (I usually use SEM).. The 2K sets up quick, sets hard and is high build so it helps with little imperfections (especially like what is found on fiberglass like this!).....

Well, the district is doing a restructure of IT personnel this summer, so I will make more money or be looking for a new place to work. Either way should be an upside, not enough to afford bikes of that level...yet...

I've used the clear SprayMax on my Daytona Wheels and bare SpecII chambers past the first cone and the clear is holding up great. It stuck well to the polished aluminum part of the wheel and the heat has not yellowed it a bit. I rode the Daytona in 100 deg heat for 140 miles last September with some long up hill pulls and the chambers still look good. Air temperture just needs to be close to 80 for the clear to flow out well.

You paint looks great Cody.

Garage was set at 72f, and yeah, its not as smooth as when its in the high 70's/low 80's.. But that didn't matter to me since this is what I would call a "base coat of clear"..lol

I've still got to knock the masking tape ridges down before final clear and will give the whole tank a light scuff with 800 grit before applying decals.. Heater will then be cranked to 78 and she should lay out nice... but even that doesn't matter as that's why they invented 1500 grit and buffing compound..

and Thanks John! (and everybody else).. I'm just glad it worked out. Nerve wracking laying out (and pulling!) all of that tape.

Paintwork Done!
Well, almost..
A couple of "nibs" to knock down in the final coat of clear (stupid lint in the air  ), but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.. I'll let it sit in the house for a week or so and give it a quick buff..

Next step is making some carbon fiber silencers for the exhaust.
