Cody, you continue to just bust out great stuff! I have a couple of questions for you. Did you put the idler gear because the chain rubbed the bottom of the case. I have a similar set up to your KH750 bike, but with a 500 motor and I had to grind the bottom part of the case to get the chain to clear. It clears when the bike is rolled forward, but when the bike is rolled backwards it rubs. I don't know if this will be a problem or not. I would imagine it probably rubs when the load is take off the rear suspension too. Also, can you give any more information on the front brake set up? I love what you have going there!

I only used it for a month or so... I finally just tweaked the pipe a bit to hang lower and out of the way of the chain.
I'm sure what you have planned would last a lifetime.
Back on the farm as a teenager, I made a chain tensioner for my dirt bike and used a material I had on hand at the time... A good old chunk of iron wood! :) surprizingly enough, it almost lasted as long as the nylon slider it replaced!
Yeah I'm a hack hick! but I still made the race on Sunday!

Your bike is really coming together Cody! Excellent job as per usual!

thanks again Guys..

hit a wall yesterday. :banghead

I ordered a Speedhut GPS/Tach combo gauge about a month ago. If you go to their website, you can design your own gauge. It allows you to upload your own graphics, etc.

the design I came up with is pretty simple (or so I thought  )...here it is
Image

basically a "Peacock Gray" stripe/Kawasaki logo on a silver back. Night time is Bright Green backing with Orange Needles.

After a few "back and forth" adjustments with Jessica (art director?), she sent me final proof and while it wasn't "exactly" like the webpage design (shown above), was close enough for me.

The thing gets here yesterday, and you cant even make out the KAWASAKI logo? Its all one big blob of gray? And I had them remove the "Speedhut Made in USA" logo on the bottom (for an additional $10.00  ) and put a a personal logo in its place (stoneWerx S3/500). No, the camera isn't out of focus, that is how splotchy/crappy it looks in person... Basically looks like it was printed on a $5.00 garage sale desktop printer. What a bunch of crap.

Nice eh?
Image

Finally.. the (supposed) "Bright Green" night-time backlighting looks more like "dark forest green" (barely lights the face up) and only the center of the needles glow orange. Just about worthless at night. Too pissed to take a photo of it.

I sent them an email so hopefully they make this right.

So to take my mind of the gauge, I started slapping another H2 together instead...

Not a bad bike to get your mind off the Tach...

It sure does look like a bit of bait and switch on those graphics... You must be a wee bit pissed about that one...

I was just about to order a speedo and tach from speedhut myself. Hope they can sort it out Cody.
A GPS speedo solves the need to run a cable/drive and also no concern about what diameter front
wheel you run.

But then you can't lie about how fast your bike is......

I do wonder if RF will be a problem....

HUGE "bait and switch".... and for $400.00+++ dollars it should be BETTER than what was shown on the website. :banghead

The vividness/quality of what I received is not even close to what is shown on their website. I am HOPING it was just rare quality control issue and they will make it right. From what I have read everywhere on line, they do have good customer service and stand behind their product.

aside from athstetics (sp?), the bells and whistles are pretty cool...(if they actually work  ) Shift light, 1/4 mile time, 0-60 time, altimeter, compass, tilt, recorded top speed, cruise control, power windows, power door locks, ice maker, cup holder....etc.

If it would have come out "as advertised", I would have been happy.

I'm "cheap" (and currently "underemployed" ).. but sometimes a guy has to spend a few bucks right? This gauge was to be the "icing on the cake" of this project. I've got so much of my time and life invested in this bike, I thought I'd throw caution to the wind and treat myself to something cool...
unfortunately my wife and kid will be eating rice and ramen noodles for the next few weeks.
