True, of course  , but it's a really well done flat tracker.

Due to the stock swingarm, shock length (14") and footpeg to seat relation all of which pretty much SUCKED.... a bunch of changes needed to be made.

I was about to cut the stock swingarm and add 1.5-2" of length. This would accomplish 3 things.

1. move the wheel back a bit and give more clearance between oil tank and tire when in the furthest "forward" position.
2. tilt the shocks away from vertical a few degrees to help soften them up a touch.
3. by tilting the shocks a few degrees, the rear of the bike is lowered and it allows me to flat-foot at a stop light instead of tippie-toes.

but in the end, I came up with a much more expensive solution

Out with the old.....

In with the new....

Now I can just about flat-foot it, and the shocks actually move when you sit on it...

Footpegs...And although their location wasn't horrible, if I'm going to do any amount of "real" miles on this bike, I know its going to get cramped... Buell XB pegs to the rescue! 1" lower than the NSR250 pegs, and with a little grinding and profiling fit nicely in the NSR mounts. I did this mod on my ZRX1200 a few years ago, and it made a world of difference.

more updates to come.. I've been working on quite a bit of stuff.

Nice solution for saving your cases from the chain... I did the same on my 400 but used a skateboard wheel.

Yeah, I clearanced the cases as much as I could, but the chain was still destined to rub. Had to do something.
I found a heavy duty 1" frame clamp on some "chopper/bobber" parts site and then made an axle. After a bunch of internet searching, I found that Erik Buell Racing has a chain conversion kit for their XB's that uses this plastic 520 sprocket with high-speed bearing... Otherwise, I would have had to take a 530 to the machine shop to thin.

Do you have any photos of how you mounted yours Andrew? I didn't realize you had a skateboard wheel on there????

And the swingarm is from H2Ken. He made a batch of RD Yamaha and H2 Swingarms. Amazingly enough, with big grinder and sledge hammer, it fits the S3 chassis too? Who woulda thunk?

Trust me Cody, it wasn't anything to be proud of... Lol
As I remember now, it wasn't to clear the cases, it was to clear the left pipe... Just a temperary solution so I could test the pipes. :) but I have no shame... Lol
Towards the end of the video you can see it.
BTW, these were the first pipes Don welded up for me. He welded them with a MIG but was not happy with the look of the weld bead being so proud. Functionally, they are great though and still in service on Roland's 400 with zero cracks and very few 500's that can pass him. 8-)

aaaah yeah.. the SKINNY PIPES! I think those things are cool looking. Just nasty, raw, big welds.. Old School Cool.

Didn't know you had to use an idler wheel on that bike? I went back and forth between using a skate-wheel or a sprocket, and even though a large chunk of my life was spent on a skateboard, just thought it would have been out of place on this bike.

Was a little concerned about a plastic sprocket until I remembered that a Buell XB has 3x's the horsepower and torque of a wimpy H1 engine. XB's have to use them as their rear axle location is FIXED, so that idler is under load ALL of the time..AND the Buell's chain is at a much more agressive angle after the idler than what ended up on the H1.

Guys on the buell forums say they are a little more noisy than an idler wheel (due to the chain meshing with teeth), but if adjusted in line and centered with chain, is not noticable.

Stole the Works shocks off the Denco H1 yesterday (just had to  ) and finished up the front brake system. New Nissan Radial mount 1/2" Master, Black Stainless-braided brake line... Just need to bleed it.

It's not a lot of load, Cody, since it's on the slack side of the chain. It would see the highest load during engine braking.

yeah.. I know its not under "drive load" Jim. Just making the point that if a plastic-toothed sprocket can hold up to that angle of chain-redirection on a bike of much higher torque and HP, it will be more than fine on an H1.
