Today I heard back from Speedhut and they confirmed that a capacitor will work just fine as long as its regulated to less than 16volts... (well, I hope Jim's R/R keeps it below that!)...

It will, but if you haven't already, talk to Scott about what's needed to tame the ignition noise.

yep...we've already been talkin'

I asked Speedhut as well, and they said that "if" I do run into any issues with iggy noise, they will work through the problem with me. Including sending noise suppressors if necessary.

So far they have been very good to deal with. Great customter service....and I haven't even bought anything yet!

Scott (Looney) was dealing with some warranty issues, and I'm curious as to the outcome?

Ordered up my Speedhut Gauge today. Waiting for the "design proof", so we'll see how it goes.

Also, as mentioned above, I needed to order a new K&N filter.. I was able to find one that met all of the required criteria.

The new one has a larger diameter body (more filter area  ), offset and perfect diameter intake mount flange, and best part is that it is tapered....which allowed me to cut the elbow a bit shorter to clean up the overall "look".... Everything fits nicely and is easy to remove and install as a complete unit (airboot to filter) so I'll more than likely glue the entire thing together instead of using clamps, similar to what I did on the Denco H1 intakes.

The only thing that bugs me is the Chrome Cap on the new filter, which will probably be painted.

You are lucky you got the only tank I made with the side mount petcock......... And just a couple of degrees, and the filter angle will match the frame tubes.

I might be building another of these bikes... Slightly different, but with many of the same details. So, we might need to order up another tank...with the same "side mount petcock".... and this time hopefully it comes "pre-lined" with Caswell. :silent:

As to filter angle, I tried my dagnabdest to run her parallel to the frame tubes, but physics just doesn't allow it. Unless of course I bust out the grinder, body hammer, tin snips, utility knife...... and sadness

This'll have to do.

and since all of the big crap is mostly done and I'm now down to the small details (mundane things like chain sliders, wire routing, etc), I feel like we've reached "phase 4"....whatever that means?

cody do you think you will get less intake noise with the 3 into 1 air filter plumbing rather than 3 seperate pods.
as my h1 with seperate pods/elbows is quite loud and would do this mod if that was the result.
cheers mark
