Engine found its new home today!!!!!!

I assembled the bottom end about a year ago and its been wrapped up in plastic and in a storage tub taking up valuable shelf space. Nice to get some room back!

One thing that continues to surprise me is how much room there is in a 400 frame. A 500 engine really was meant to be in there....It's a piece of cake installing cylinders/heads while the bottom end is bolted in the bike. Plenty o' room.
And once again a big THANKS to Walms for the 500 engine mounting plate kit. It's TOP NOTCH and well thought out.... The only thing I did "difern't" was to add spacer tubes between the upper front mounts (permanently welded) like an H2 frame. Figured it would add a little frame rigidity up front..
and for fun, I threw the chain in there to see how much clearance I had top and bottom... and whether or not I'm going to need a chain slider on the top of the swingarm like I did on the Denco H1 (KZ650 swinger with 14.5" shocks)...it looks like the answer is "yes".
One question though guys.
WHY do they put soooo much freaking "shipping Grease" on these things?
It seems like every new chain I get has even more Grease than the last one? This next pic was taken after about 10 minutes with a tooth brush and WD-40.. All I managed to accomplish was verifying it had Gold outer plates.. LOL
It was COMPLETELY WHITE when I took it out of the wrapper.. and this stuff is STICKY!

How would you get the rest of that crap off of there so it doesn't fling all over the bike on the first few rides????
Kerosene?
