Hard to beat that deal, and good idea. (Made my Dunlop?)

Figured 'dI buy the charger while I was at it.
You've got me thinking about the voltage regulator though.
I'm assuming the battery will have max voltage ratings and have never checked what voltage my bike puts out at higher RPM's.

Does anyone make an adjustable voltage regulator for an H2, or are using diodes to lower the possible high voltage (for AGM batteries) the best idea?

Wanted to give you this update on lead acid battery abuse.

My battery was nearly DRY although it would keep the lights on with the engine stopped for about 3 minutes.

Filled it with distilled water charged it an amazingly, all the lights stayed on for over 30 minutes!
I stopped the test as I was board and had other work to do on the bike and the headlight is hot (has a replacement bulb)
It will be interesting to see if it holds a charge for any length of time when not in use.

How long is a good stock battery supposed to maintain headlight, tailight and instrument lamps on for?

(Amp-hours) / Amps = Hours

Amp-Hours = Amp-hour rating of battery
Amps = load current, in Amps
Hours = hours from fully charged to dead

Non deep-cycle batteries don't like being deeply discharged.

The A-h rating is usually something like a 10 hour rate, meaning if it's a 10 A-h battery, it will run a 1 Amp load for ten hours. It probably won't run a 10 Amp load for a full hour.

Thanks Jim but I do know the math behind the ratings.
Just thought that somebody might remember either the Kawa or DoT spec for how long a bike was supposed to be able to support lights with the engines stopped (based on the 70's estimates).

For an H2 with a 5.5 A-h battery, and with a 35 Watt (approx. 3 Amp) headlight and a 1A tail light, the math becomes

5.5 / 4 = 1.375 hours

Instrument light will add a little to the load.
