I am about to start my restoration project and wondered how people got the bike off the ground, I have a jack under the engine and have the forks off but want to remove the rear wheel also and later this week remove the engine from the chassis

On my race bikes its easy I have purpose made stands for them but this Kawasaki has me scratching my head so I am interested in knowing what you have used to achive this, pictures would be good also

With the front end and pipes off, place or make a rolling dolly for the chassis, that is if the realy nice rafters idea is not possible. I've found dollies to be a life saver.

I've used a come-along winch from the rafters. Just have to be careful when lower it as it usually goes up as just a nice light frame and ends up quite a bit heavier once the front and rear ends are assembled.

I built this horrid rectangular box out of 2x10's and lag bolts with the proper cut outs for bike tabs, attached that to a flat base made from 2x12's

The only balance problem is when the rear wheel is off, you have to put a piece of lumber under the steering head for perfect balance with the forks off

Other weird weight combinations require tie downs from the bike to the box

i have a lift table now but pre table i used eye bolts in the rafters with tie downs but had one pull out on me luckily i was right there to catch it ,bloody scary though.

Moo is a bottle jack fan. I've built several things over the years, I have a scissor jack with a couple of standoffs that touch the bottom frame.
