I just got my chain installed and I can not find a spec in the S3 manual for nut torque. I may be going blind.

Please give me a number for proper torque.

No on the 520. I found nice sprockets at PBI but they only had the front in 530 so I went ahead with 530 chain and sprockets. Got it all installed today. FYI the PBI rear sprocket is aluminum and light as a feather. I generally wouldn't choose aluminum for a street bike but I don't think this bike will see that many miles per year.

The quality of the PBI sprockets is super.

Edited to change "520 chain and sprockets" to read "530 chain and sprockets". Now the post almost makes sense.

I think you meant you went with 530 (?). Yes, I just got a PBI rear too. Don't worry about a good quality aluminum sprocket. I have at least 20k miles on my last one, and it's still fine. I changed it only because I wanted to change the ratio.

For anyone who is curious, here is a picture of the sprocket from PBI mounted on the bike.
Image

Those big slots are great for tightening the front sprocket nut. I just put a hammer handle through the slot and reacted the torque on the bottom of the swingarm. Also, since I polished the hell out of the drive adapter, it is nice to be able to see through the sprocket. :D

Sprockets from PBI - ordered from PBI website
Front Sprocket 475-14 C/S 530(530 only)
$23.70 free shipping
Rear Sprocket 4072-41 530 (520 also available)
$64.65 free shipping

Chain ordered from Amazon - delivered by Powersport Superstore
Regina Chain 530 ORS2BX O-Ring Series Chain - 110 Links - Black, Chain Type: 530
$103.46 Delivered
Note: This chain comes with both clip style and rivet style links

There are a lot of ways to skin this cat. I wanted a 520 chain but I wasn't interested in grinding down the width on the 530 sprocket or in shopping around for another source for the front sprocket in the 520 width. So I got the heavier chain. The 520 chains seemed to cost less than the 530 chains so it may have been worth the effort. To be honest, I just wanted something that would bolt on and work well.

Mike - thanks. I am just days away from starting it up. Adjusting cables today and trying to get the air out of the front brakes.
