a caution for you- do not try and unstick the plates by rocking the bike backwards in gear. Bad things can happen there..... and no, I didn't learn that one from experience. :shock: ;)

I KNOW thins will be controversial, but the ONLY trans oil I use is 85W-90 hypoid gear o0il, like Sta-Lube. NOT synthetic snake oil, not engine oil, not low viscosity oils, just the heavy stuff, and no additives.

That said, sometimes, the clutches bind up over long sitting levels.

Try this, pull the clutch lever in all the way and bungie cord it to the bar. then, pull the dip stick out of the clutch cover, and use a screw driver to break some of the fiber plates away from the steels, then, go out and run the bike with the clutch pulled in, ride it a while, get it to operating temp, and the clutch should break loose, and be just fine.

My 90 cc Yamaha Enduro does the same thing every winter, and it usually takes riding it a mile and a half to get the clutch to break free.

started it up yesterday
same thing

rode it around the property a few times
varying rpms alot
shifted into 2nd and 3rd
and back to 1st a few times
stopped still stuck

let it sit
went in to get my helmet to drive it down the road to give it a better longer run

got to the end of my drive to leave and it had unstuck itself

still took it out for a nice short ride tho

was a good day for it yesterday

Lucas 80/90 at any autozone. That is all I have used and mine doesn't stick or slip even when occasionally abused...

I agree with Dave (H2RTuner) bout the gear oil.. I may not ride as many miles as some of you, but I did get 175K 2 stroke miles out of my 2 GT750s and never had a problem... Now the engine did use oil and smoke, but guess thats for another post... :o

Allen...... I am not useless !!! I can be used as a bad example....
