I think I know the answer to this, but.......

H1 and H2 shift forks are the same, correct?

Meaning, even though the part numbers are different between H1 and H2, they are completely the same and interchangeable right?

The late H2 fowks were wider on the drum, but I think it is not a problem.

The early H1 and early H2 part numbers are different, but to the naked eye, the forks appear identical in every way aside from color. The H1 forks have a "black-ish" tint to them and the H2 forks have a "grey" tint.

I know the later bikes had a wider fork as per the service bulletin.

The grey is a chrome coating

they are hardened. Maybe showed more wear than acceptable, so they did a hard chrome plate.

Since an H1 gearbox assy can be dropped into H2 cases and vice versa without changing the drum and forks, it doesn't seem logical to use different part numbers for H1 and H2 forks, really. If there are any differences I haven't been able to find them. I've even fitted H1 forks to my H1-R engine and H2 forks to my H2-R engine (which has a 6-speed box) and everything shifted smoothly without any problems when checking before assembling the case halves, and continued to do so after assembly.

thanks guys..

I do remember RB saying something about interchanging some forks as he couldn't get full engagument in one of the gears even though he was certain all forks were interchangeable as well.

In measuring the width (of the part that rides on the drum) of various H1 and H2 forks... I cant see/find a difference, so Im going to chalk RB's experience up to not knowing what he's doing.
