Ok great. I will be paying about $1350 including shipping if I go through with the Higgspeed ones. Depending on what the exchange rate does. California Triples lists chambers too but they virtually never answer me, and if they do it`s `out of stock`. So thanks Rod, I will keep it in my tiny mind.

Jim also does ignitions that you may need (as does Starfire out of NZ). The original you have has a finite life due to component aging.

Your bike is a H1e built in April 1974, it is from a batch sent to New Zealand and Australia, the engine fitted IS the One that it left the factory with

Thanks for all this guys you really know your s**t. Yes the compliance does verify the April date. I will keep the ignition options in mind, but may not buy the NZ ones as I am a bit worried about having the wool pulled over my eyes.
Whilst I am talking to people who may know...will a 69 middle barrel work on my 74 bike. I can`t see why not. But I find a lot of things that I can`t see why not that there is a reason why not.

The 500 guys will know better than I , but a '69 barrel will "work" on your bike - but it's probably best kept for someone with a '69. There are probably minor differences between years. The 750 barrells are quite a bit different over the years. (Is that an old word, "barrel"?) Perhaps a H1 guy will have better info.

Heaps of info. Somewhere I have scans of the Australian Two Wheels test of the H1E if they are of interest.

Shipping chambers to Australia is a challenge. The postal rules won't allow a box big enough for the job. I shipped Rod his by not welding the center joint and sending them in halves. Another Aussie decided on a cone kit. Shippers like UPS or FedEx are out of the question because of cost. I've heard that sometimes you can get away with a box bigger than the rules say, but it would be bad to have the box rejected and sent back here, losing $100+ in the process.

As far as setting up the carbs to original spec based on model year, that may not work well after 37 years of needle and needle jet wear, and other possible differences from original (porting, intake filter(s), exhaust). There's a very good carb tuning section of the resource site (link in post above) that guides you through setting them up, from start to finish. It would be worth following that once you get your final exhaust system.

Thanks Jim. All the jet needle, circlips, main jets, pilots, choke yoke, cables, gaskets, etc are new.... so should be fine. Yes I would be interested in any of the literature regarding the model test too. Jim, maybe just quote me on a cone kit? Although I agree with the Tomcat new owner in that there is a big difference between welding and really good welding, and the guys that are really good know it and charge accordingly. It would also be incredibly fiddly, as it would have to be spot welded with someone holding or taping cones temorarily in place and then removing for completion. I have access to such a guy but the cost of the welding would probably equal the cost of the parts. How much could you supply a cone kit for? Do you use stainless or steel? One way or another I`ve got to have a set. Thanks.
