Question...

On the late H1 2-pickup iggy, there is not "ground" on the coils like the H2 3-pickup system

There is the "common" white/red-stripe wire that connects to the larger of the two cdi boxes.

and there are the BLUE/GREEN/BLACK wires that goes to the Stator.

There is a positive (green) and negative (black) terminal on these Mini-coils

My question is..

Do I connect the negative (black) side of the mini coil to the red/white wire? Or is it Vise-Versa??? or does it matter?

thanks!

Connect the "-" on the coil to frame ground, connect the "+" on the coil to the red from the CDI.

Edit: Ignore this post... wrong, wrong, wrong

Dale, I believe he's going to have to connect the "-" on each coil to its distributor wire, and the three "+" tabs go the the white/red. If I remember right, the mounting point on the coil is just a brass insert in plastic, so it's not a ground. The HV coil's ground is connected to the primary, so it will get its ground when the distributor grounds that primary.

I have similar coils to yours for a future project. The terminals on my coils are not labeled + or -. However, the plastic at the base of the spade terminals are coloured black and green like your coils.

What is the polarity orientation of your coil terminals with respect to the base colour?

2 pickup system? have them on the s2 with an H1e ignition. green lead on the coil goes the three 3 wires that go to the 'grounding' harness (blue, green, black), which in turn goes to the brushes that are on the alternator rotor/ 'distributor'. white wire which comes from the cdi connects to the 3 black terminals. but they will work either way on the mini coils.(talked to jim about this last year at some point)

if you ground the coils to the frame, they will each try to fire every 120 degrees. :wtf:

Better make that the white with red stripe wire from the CDI. The white one connects to the signal generators.

Dale, what brand of rum do you recommend for someone who'll be posting?
