Thanks for the reply!
Do you also need a wrist pin & bearing?

Does anyone have a stock 400 piston for loan or do I need to tear down an motor?

Dale,

I would want a complete piston assembly and we can then check to see if one of our existing bearings would fit in that model.

Perhaps Jim has one?

Maybe you guys should test the waters and see how many people really want them?

John,

I've been on these message boards for over 10 years and own 400's. I put a 500 motor in a 400 because pistons weren't available at reasonable prices. The demand is there! I've already contacted one prominent parts supplier who has told me he wants to stock them. I'll eat the inventory if I can't move them.

I don't have a problem with buying 15 pistons (reasonably priced) but I would rather not getting as many .040 oversize.

I really don't think a message board is the proper way to discuss this issue and prefer the email addy provided but whatever it takes I am committed to getting S3/KH400 Wossner pistons on the market. It was disappointing to find that 350 pistons, with two production years, while 400's, with seven production years, were ignored.... didn't make sense to me.

As stated, I don't relish the idea of getting into the parts business but I'm willing to bite the bullet if no one else is. My motivation is to provide a quality piston to help keep these relics alive, not profit.

Will be in Germany (Ruhr Area) next wednesday.
Can and snailmail a piston+rings+bearing+pin at a German Postoffice.
Have some close to new S3 pistons, standard size, on the shelf.
Will take two sets (6 pistons) as I will most likely start racing S3 later this year.
Say yes, and I will send it to Weil am Rein.
Postage would be EUR 6.50 only.

Thank you, do you need the address to ship to in Weil?

Please send to Tobias Woessner

Thank you,

John.

PS. Looks like Fast in the Past will be setting up an order list to see who wants the 400 pistons.

I have set up a place on my web store to preorder 400 piston kits here:

http://www.fastfromthepast.com/servlet/the-2486/Piston-Kit-Kawasaki-400/Detail

Once I have preorders for 45 piston kits I will place a production order with Wossner for all sizes. You will NOT be charged for your preorder until shipment - if you don't want to give credit card info or you want to pay with PayPal just select the check/money order option. I will email each person who places an order to see what size piston kits they need. I'll also update this thread each time a new preorder is placed with a new grand total.

If we move ahead with production we will also stock a full line of parts -pins, rings, etc. - just as we do for the H1 and H2 pistons.

Questions you can post here or email me at jimhinshaw@fastfromthepast.com
