New guy to this site, but there's alot of names I recognize from the Suzuki site too!
I restored a '77 GT750 last year and now I've picked up a '72 H2 for my next project.
I've started to tear her down and I'll be sure to post pix of the build as I go along.
She's only missing a few stock items, pipes, airbox, turn signals, but other
than that, she's in pretty good shape!
I'm sure I'll be asking alot of questions in the near future.
But for now, here's my $500 H2.......

She's kinda scattered across my shop at the moment.

But I tend to have a bad case of OCD when it comes to projects so I'll update often.

I've already talked to PorscheDave and I'm gonna send him the crank.
Cylinders are .50mm over with stock unmolested ports!
Who likes what for pistons?????? Wossner? Wiseco? Kawasaki?
Does anyone make a set in less than .50 mm increments?
Same for pipes/kits>? Who likes what for a basically stock bike?

Thanks in advance for all the helpful knowledge you guys are gonna provide!!!!!!
Steve

Actually this bike and the R60/5 BMW that you see behind it were 'given' to a customer of mine.
That's right free of charge, just come pick them up.
We live in FL and the bikes were in Michigan.
My buddy didn't care anything about the H2, all he wanted was the BMW.
We hadn't seen either of the bikes. No pix either.
I offered to drive to MI and pick up both bikes on my nickel if he'd let me have the H2.
He said he'd have to see it first. No way was he gonna give away a possible museum piece.
I had pushed it to the back of my mind when out of the blue he calls
and says "You still want that Kaw????"
I said "Sure, what do you want for it?"
He says, " I should have let you go get them, the BMW is nice but the H2 is junk!"
He says I can have it for the price of gas for his trip.
Of course I had to go look at it.............And the rest is history!!!!!!!!
I love it when people have no idea what they're looking at. :wtf:
If it makes you feel any better I think I actually gave $550 for it............

Picky picky picky! (R60/5 and R65 sound the same when you say it!)
You are absolutely right though!
It's actually in really good condition too!
If it were mine I don't think I would restore it.
It's nice enough to just shine up and ride.
That just made the H2 that much uglier in his opinion.
To each his own!

Got a little more torn down today........
Engine is now 99% apart.......need to
take the studs out to clean/replace them.

Image

Got the carbs apart, cleaned, and ready to go back together.

Image

Crankshaft ready to get boxed out and shipped to PorscheDave.
Seals are questionable but the bearings and rods feel/look pretty good!

Image

Tranny looks good too! In fact the entire clutch: plates/disks/basket/springs
are all brand new! Shift forks too!!! Talk about falling into a great deal!!!!!

Image

I'm off dirt bike riding for the next few days so I won't touch her again till Monday.
More to come..............I've been taking lots of pix and they're all HERE.

Unless a stud is stripped, no need to open a can o worms by removing them.......
