My last TM34 arrives tomorrow, and I have everything else done to fit these carbs. Bit of work it all was. The TM34 do not have a vacuum fitting for a fuel tap so I drilled and fitted my own, as high up in the carb bore as I could so it has some vacuum at high throttle openings. Ported the Mikuni carb mount rubbers to one of my spare barrels. I redesigned and 3D printed all the intake tubes. Drilled, tapped and fit oil check valves inside one of the carb vent ports, you see a pushloc fitting on the other side of the carbs in the pics. Am starting out with 260 mains, slide needles all the way up, and #40 idle jets. Strangely there is no other slide cutaway option for a TM34 other than the 4.0 it has, hope that works out.

Adding two more vacuum fittings will allow you to use a mercury manometer to set both off idle, and idle carb synch. Then, close the two you don't use for the fuel valve off with rubber covers from a Z1.

It is a whole lot easier to synch the carbs with a manometer than with a Uni-Syn.

I should do that, yes. Have only synched the carbs on this bike using the tongue depressors in the slide cutaways so far; set the idle openings all the same to start, then insert the depressors and watch them move with initial throttle opening.

The manometer method is a lot easier.

Running engine, synch idle first, then pull the slides up by extending the throttle cable length at the handlebar end to raise the rpm's, set the slides/cables, reset the throttle play adjustment, shut engine down, set oil pump, done. .

I have done the fingers on the slides, Uni-Syn (both types), and the easiest, most accurate is the manometer, no contest.

Forgot to add a pic of the carb oil check valve test setup. You can see the small round head jet inside the carb, spring and check ball above that. Set them at a little over 4 psi.

Got one carb fitted, real pain to get them in the rubber carb holders, the bowls hit the gearbox lump before you slip them in, but they do clear everything, well the RH one does so far.

Got the other two carbs fitted tonight. The center one clears the neutral switch nicely, because the flat slide carbs are narrower than round slide, the bowl is forward of the switch. The LH carb however, hit the cases bad. But, I was able to put the bowl in the 4 jaw chuck on the lathe and machine .080" off the main jet plug base, off the O ring seal area, and then fitted the plug and machined another .020" off that as well. You can see in the pic it has OK clearance now. Will be a bit of a pain to remove the carbs to do jet changes, the RH one is the worst, the carb tops come off ok to change needle though, and I swapped the Phillips screws on the tops for cap heads to help there.

Got it running finally. No issues with the carb setting for a first start, idled well, didn't seem lean or rich on the idle mixture. Had primed the carb bowls with a heavy 2 stroke mix so it's really smoky. Video here. https://youtu.be/5DPMM53vtiU
