Well, I am jumping down the rabbit hole and I bought one, of three of course, TM34 Mikuni flat slide carbs for the H2. Seems like the VM30s are restricting it at the higher rpms. I thought it was lean, so went a main jet size richer last year, and it didn't help, and a 30mm carb is really on the small size for a 250cc cylinder, even a lower performance one like the H2 is, compared to modern MX engines etc of course. Also got the Mikuni carb mount rubber, which is a bit long but it looks like it will fit ok. Pic here of it on one of my spare cylinders, and the stock VM30 for size comparison. I have TM38s on my XV750 and love them. Those have a smooth tapered slide bottom and also use a lean idle mixture jet. This TM34 does not have the smooth slide and has a cutout, sort of like a round slide carb, and I see it also has a much richer idle mixture jet, similar to the stock VM30 actually. So these TM34 could actually use some UFO type blocks. I will get it running and go about jetting and see how I like the low end response, if it looks like it needs it I will 3D print some UFO blocks for the TM34s.
