well before I worry about which pipes to run I gotta figure out why
the motor is so noisy.

I cleaned the carbs, checked the rank wells for oil/gas flooding.
put a scope down in bottom end, everything looked ok.
fogged the motor, bike started 1st kick.
making noise like bad wrist pin or possibly lower rod bearing.
i always have a squirt can full of 2 stroke oil on hand for stuff that hasnt run for a while.
giving it a few squirts each cylinder and watching the smoke.
i let it warm up and noise didnt go away. pulled on of the bangos
on a carb and started the bike again. no oil ,held the pump wide open
and still no oil.

I just happened to notice there are 2 sets of bangos.
one for the carbs and apparantly one set for the Crank?

hoping the lower rod bearings arent junk.

anyone have a spare oil pump?

Pumps failures are pretty rare. Check things like the screen in the oil tank outlet and anything else that might restrict oil flow. Also, if air got in the oil system, it could take a while for oil to start pumping, since the flow rate is very low. If you loosen the banjo at the pump inlet, does oil ooze out?

I did loosen the banjo at the pump inlet before I started the bike. oil did ooze out.

is that set of banjos on the case for lubing crank bearings? I dont see how they could lube rod bearings.

I pulled the timing cover and put a wrench on bolt and rocked it back and forth.
there is some slop in something. I can hear tink tink tink . Im gonna pull the head
and cylinder on that side.

I bought a Yamaha GPX free air sled once. sounded the same. pulled the top end
and found that someone put a 10 over piston in a 20 over bore.
it ran but that was the loudest piston slap I ever heard.

Some (most) of these motors are rattly..the rods have slots in the big end so oil can reach the bearings...there are oil receivers (slingers) to assist as well.

And yes, the lines to the block oil the main bearings.

Yeah, most free airs are rattaly. both of my H1's are kinda noisy especially when cold.
they usually quite down a little when they warm up.

both of my H1,s are that way but this is louder than normal unless
the H2's are a lot louder

well, decided to check the timing before tearing the cylinders off.
timing was way retarded. like around 18 1/2 btdc.

got it set right at 23 and threw a set of wirges pipes on it.

sure does run better. it quited down just a little but still pretty noisy.

I never even heard an H2 run so I dont know how they compare to H1 engine noise.

oil injection is working now but I dont trust those banjos so im going to clean every one of them.

most of the chatter is on the left side cylinder, I dont think its lower rod bearings.
really sounds like piston slap. my h1D had a noisy piston, it had a stuck ring
after I fixed that it was much better.

i had the right side head off and measured the bore with a telescopic bore gauge.
it measured 72.3 mm front to back and 72 mm right to left.

I guess I better at least pull the head on the left side and have a look.

H2's are "clankers", They are loud. Look up H2 on youtube, to hear a few. And there is a passage in the big end pin for oil, but it doesn't do a lot when the oil slingers wear out.
