Yeah, that's going to be a good thing. The argument that the way around is too long is silly, since there's no way in hell big trucks and 40' motor homes towing cars should ever be on that road.

Agreed
I wonder if product pricing for the local folks will increase due to the extra distance for trucking

Or maybe it will just mean NC vendors will be favored more than before.

I had to laugh when I read "204 crashes from 2010 - 2012". LMFAO! Yeah right! That number does not include the 1000's of crashes not reported every day all summer long!! I think I've seen 200 crashes there personally!

I'll never forget my first year there ('03 or '04?) when it was still the "WILD WEST". No cops, speed limit was still 45mph on the dragon, hotel was still old-school.. I don't even think killboy was there yet?

There were bikes and cars flying off of cliffs everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you guys remember early one morning when that "local" fell asleep going up wheelie hill in that Ford Pickup and drove it straight off the cliff at the top of the hill?

Bizarro land...

Cody, no doubt the Gap was wilder before John and I started coming to the Meets, but the place is still full higher performing vehicles and bikes than operators. Even with slower posted speed limits and limited OTR trucks they were still dredging up dead bodies off the mountain's side, literally. The place is still bat guano crazy at times. And folks is one of the reasons we keep coming back.

Huh....I've been there multiple times every year since the late 90's and I've only seen maybe a dozen accidents; three which happened directly in front of me.
I think they may be calling slipping off the road an accident.

Didn't you have a minor "step-off" that first year, Cody? On maybe a 350 or 400 triple.
