I drove highway 16 from Marion, VA to Tazewell, VA Saturday. For those who don't know, it has been named the Back of the Dragon and is 32 miles long. The road would be okay except that there is a lot of eroded rock on the turns from the mountain sides degrading. While it is beautiful and scenic, I think I will stay away with my bike. I think the odds of dropping my bike would be too high.

I've heard the same thing about that road before, too much debris in the road, but otherwise great.

What a timely post, Steve  I'm riding my ZX-14R down there this weekend :D
The small group is leaving 6:30 AM Friday, I'm leaving after work and slabbing straight to the hotel (5 hrs). This will be a good test of the bike's comfort, I've only ridden it on the track so far, and once to work today after finally getting a plate on it yesterday.

edit - Since I just bought these pics, might as well amortize the investment 8-)

Cool. Beautiful bike. Have fun. Be careful!
Where are you staying? I stayed at the General Frances Marion Hotel in Marion. Beautiful historic hotel and the food at the restaurant was really good at a great price.

Tonight will be Quality Inn in Bluefield. Saturday night at a house owned by one of the guys in Canaan Valley. There is a larger loop also known as the "Claw of the Dragon"
