We had mentioned that we might want to assemble the makings of a full band for the meet this year to have alittle fun for one or two of the nights. Do ya'll think the management at the resort will OK/ approve and should we seek that out first? The thought crosses my mind since we'd possibly have drums and they can be loud and resonate through the area. Should approval be given; if we can't find a drummer, the full band thing would most likely be out I would speculate. If you play/sing, post up which instruments and what you could bring. I'll start:

Evans rhythm guitar/ backing vocals
can bring acoustic or electric guitar (small amp) and microphone

I only want to bring one guitar and amp due to space limitations. I know V4 Rick will post up as I remember he said he has lots of gear. There's also battleaxe (Joe Byrd) and his wife Debbie, Lane, Jim Hobbs, Russ (Dr Detroit aka Great White Buffalo) and Chris. If we can't do the full band electric thing, we'll do the acoustic stuff for sure.

OK- who'll post up next? :thumbup: :wave:

Sounds great!! Probably best to ask, but I am sure they wont have a problem as long as it doesnt run to late??

Drums would be nice, but would complicate things.
Without drums: no PA needed; acoustic guitars - ok; electric - smallest amps made; bass - I've got a Peavey Micro-Bass (1-8", 20 W) that would do; little chance of bothering nearby residents.
With drums: some sort of PA (mics, stands, mixer, amp, speakers, cables); acoustic - can stay home; electric - no micro amps, but nothing huge; bass - instead of a little 20 lb Micro Bass, an 80 lb TKO; may get complaints from neighbors.
Don't get me wrong, I like drums and still play with a R&R/Blues band every week. Just pointing out the obviious.
Either way, I'll bring my '65 CAR Jazz and one of the smaller amps mentioned - the 700 W., 8-12" Peaveys will stay home.
What y'all brining?

A drummer and decent bass player can make a crummy guitar player like me sound good, and they make instrumental jams really fun. If the drummer has the skill to play relatively softly, a singer doesn't need a PA system. I say bring a modest drum set and electric bass, and don't play at ear-shattering levels.

Of course, clearing it with the management is important in any case.

Evans, I can't find that email you sent me with a few "easy" songs that we could play. Do you remember or can you or anyone else suggest any. I'll practice :?

Chris, if you can play 1, 4 and 5 chords (E, A, and B, for example) you can play rythm in blues and blues-rock jams. If you break up those chords into single notes, you're on your way doing a lead. To me, jamming and improvising is the most fun. Maybe not for the audience, but for the musicians. :D

A drummer playing "relatively softly"? I guess such a thing exists, kind of like BigFoot...
