Thanks for all you do on this Ric. I'm hooked - had a blast in May, looking forward to 2012.

Lisa - you going to make it? You're closer than me!!!

Am I? Hmm, fly 3 1/2 hrs to Miami Airport, maybe fly to TN then the drive to DG or fly to Miami, and drive from there to DG. Have no idea how many hours that would be. Nahhhhhhh, Barry methinks you are definitely closer!

Come hell or highwater, I'm gonna be there! Although I got my license in July, I haven't ridden since then, so unless I get a bike soon to get the experience, I might not ride. :( Heard from everyone how challenging the Dragon is, that it needs lots of skill. And I'll have to beg, borrow, steal or rent a bike. But surely I can go slow?????? I sooooooo want to ride it, it's on my bucket list.

Of course you should ride all you can between now and then, but the Dragon is any level of difficulty you choose, from beginner to pro, depending on the speed at which you ride it. There are many pull-offs along the way, so slower vehicles can momentarily move off the road and let faster ones pass safely.

Jims right Lisa.

And you're measuring your trip in hours - even quite a few of them - LOL it takes me 3 days ONE WAY to get there from here. 6 days round-trip of just driving.

Lisa....No one would accuse me of being negitive.......but I'd rather see you take on the Dragon following one of us late in the afternoon when the crowd has settled down. And, you better get out there and get in as many riding hours as you can. It will surely make the trip a much better experience in terms of driving the area roads. Can't you find a little bike for a few hundred ? Maybe a dealer has a used one he wants to be rid of.

Ric, one thing about me, I'm a WUSS and I've heard too much about the Dragon and seen the videos, so I KNOW it's a challenging ride, some guys have even told me they don't like riding it. So I would be cautious and ride slow and yes if one of the guys would let me tag along slowly, I'd definitely appreciate it. I also have to contend with riding on the wrong side of the road too. All of this is why, I did say that I might not even ride, unless I got more riding time in. :(

Pick up a bike for a few hundred??????? ROTFLMFAO!!!!!!! Good one, maybe more like a couple of thousand, things are expensive here in Barbados. Just double or triple the price on anything you buy to ship and duties.

Hopefully though, I should get something before year end. Still looking!

Ok Barry, I looked it up

From Barbados to Miami Airport it's 1598 miles - 3 1/2 hrs flying time
From Miami to Tapoco, NC its 1335 miles - 14 hrs

Total of 2933 total miles ONE way.

On time, it certainly takes longer for you, in miles... I win. LOL

Was thinking of bringing up some of our local rum and sweets for ya'll.

Lisa, you've probably checked already, but can't you fly in to a closer city like Atlanta, GA for the same price?

edit: I just checked cheaptickets.com. Approx round trip price to Miami: $620. To Knoxville, TN: $806. The drive from Miami to Tapoco is 848 miles, according to mapquest.com, so flying to Knoxville would save about 1700 miles round trip. If you get 25 mpg in the rental car, and gasoline is $4/gallon, you'll pay $272 for gasoline. Clearly, flying to Knoxville is cheaper.
