Weird topic, huh?? I have something free of charge for any Gap attendee this year that an owner of any 1963 Chevrolet would appreciate and it’s a rare advertising piece. Asking here first and will wait a couple of days before offering up on 2SW.

Nice if it were either a 425 horse W409 engine, or a complete Z11 W427 engine.

You just taught me a bout the Z11. :) I hadn't known about it before. I have a boat that currently needs its 427 rebuilt. In its last form it was a L72 with a ZL1 cam and Offenhauser tunnel ram. If evans is bringing a Z11 engine, I'll take it and provide the appropriate appreciation. He did say that his item was an advertising piece though.

Jim, there are two different 427 designs. The first was built from a W series engine, 348/409, it was the Z11. Extremely rare. Cast iron block and heads.

The later, better " big block", or, "porcupine" is the canted valve engines most are familiar with. Very common, 366/396/402/427/454/502. The regular engines had cast iron blocks and heads. The 427 had cast iron blocks with aluminum heads, L88/L89, and aluminum block and heads, ZL1. These engines are extremely different than the W type engines.

OK, it's coming back now... the early W engines. Thanks for that Dave.

Day late and a dollar short, I guess. I have a 63 Impala station wagon awaiting an engine install and mild restoration.
