Riding this road/trail is on my bucket list. I might rent an enduro while I'm there this year. Anyone else interested? But...I want to ride it slow enough to see the scenery.

Chris, it's pretty low and thick so not much sight seeing. The 8 miles goes very fast if you keep the speed up. We take a lunch and stop half way for a break. I rode it by myself in 08 for the first time. I got caught in an awfully bad thunder storm and had to stop several times because of hail. When I would stop I just knew a big O bear would jump out and get me.

I ordered the unpaved maps for the area from this guy. https://americaridesmaps.com/about The maps were very helpful. Like KTM said the area on either side of the skyway is pretty easy riding for a street bike. The guy with the maps lives in Waynesville and we have ran into him twice over the last few years on our adventures. One year he took a picture of Ben and his FJR on the Blue Ridge and used the picture on his Facbook page.

I'm sad to say early last Nov Ben was riding by himself in our Ozarks Mountains and ran wide in a curve. He broke his collar bone so bad it took 1.5 hour surgery to repair it. The FJR was totalled but luckily Ben will be ok. He is doing fine and goes back to work at the FD next week. I may let him ride my DT100 this year as he sold the BMW i like to ride and crashed the FJR so he is without a ride :)

FYI, at the time of this posting, Parsons Branch Road is closed due to downed trees.
