Located just East of mile marker 4 on the Dragon is a pair of DO NOT ENTER signs marking the end of the one way, eight mile Parson Branch Road that starts in Cades Cove.

The past two years the road has been closed due to tree fall. Great Smoky Mountains National Park maintains this seasonal road and updates its status on the following webpage. The road was open for the 2014 Two Stroke Meet.

This is the sign that greets visitors to the road.

I have taken this road multiple times in cars, vans, and on my KE. When the weather has been good, anything shy of a low slung sports car can make it through. When the weather has been bad a couple of the uphills can be a bit interesting and the multiple water crossing (paved) can be running high.

Riding this road/trail is on my bucket list. I might rent an enduro while I'm there this year. Anyone else interested? But...I want to ride it slow enough to see the scenery.

Chris

Then any street driven triple should make it through OK too. I'm game.

Any motorcycle can make easily. It is a gravel road with several water crossing.

So how many miles long is Parsons Branch Road? Sounds like a nice ride.

Parsons Branch is OK but if you want a great ride check out all the stuff off the Cherehola and on to Bald River Falls. The dirt roads are easily doable on a Triple. The area is well worth checking out. We will be heading though there sometime during the week so if you want to go along with myself and our Tour Guide LIRUS pm Russ.
