Just stripped out a previous sloucher helicoil on my pump. I'm not going to the gap but going to texas for some triple riding in a couple weeks.

Already talked to Jeff, the man is a Saint

11 hours 24 minutes till my leave starts. One last 12 hour shift. Tomorrow will no doubt be an action packed day filled with last minute details, cleaning , packing, loading and culminating with a large feast for the Bridal Unit's 60th birthday gala....

Is the usual late arrival plan in place, Rick? That is, keys on office door?

Ric,
what is your preferred route?
It always seems to take me longer than it should.
Just checking to see if there's quicker route...

The shortest way is the interstate through Chattanooga up to HWY 68 through Sweetwater to Hwy 411 to Hwy 72 and through the Gap. I usually return home this way because I leave early before any traffic gets on the Gap.

It's maybe 25 miles further to go through Cleveland through the Ocoee, Murphy, Robbinsville....but then you don't have to drive through the Gap. I usually go to the Gap this way because I'm arriving at a time when the Gap is full of bikes.

Either way it's about the same....no real short cut. I've tried every conceivable route.

It takes me anywhere between 5 to 5.5 hours. Thats from Madison Al.

You have more interstate than I do using I-59.

But I've made it in 4 hours on a motorcycle... 8-)

I guess I'll go my usual route.. Ocoee, Murphy, Robbinsville.
someone recommended , Sweetwater, then Cherohola Skyway to Robbinsville.

And it takes me 7 to 7.5 hours to get there, starting in North Carolina!
