Jim is correct, the wheel sets the start positioning to the piston, left of center, or right of center, and the stroke volume.

Please stop trying to make me out as some sort of liar, it doesn't sit well with me at all. I was there, you weren't.

I hope that wasn't directed at me ( if it was, that was not my intent, my apologies ). I enjoy reading your comments and the knowledge you are sharing with us.

Just more info.
The simple fix is what we did, fit an S series oil pump, with the H2 wheel. The bike went the complete race on just at 7/8ths tank of oil, NO PREMIX. No performance issues.

Wow interesting, I didn't know an S series pump will bolt up to an H2 or H1. Nice tip!

This is what my bike had with it when purchased. It is an S model pump with the H2 wheel on it. It did pump just fine but leaked. Maybe I should have tried rebuilding it. I did buy the kit.

What I did instead was buy a ready to run updated H2-3 pump as per the service bulletin below. And the pair of H1 pumps with lines. So now I have four pumps total, three are redundant. Call it a character flaw if you like. I won’t argue.

Bulletin#: 73 H-18
Date: Nov. 17, 1972
Bike(s) affected: H2
Subject: Modified oil pump
Action taken:
Graph to correspond with carburetor changes in service bulletin part number 73 H-19, the oil pump has been modified for slightly reduced flow. Old pump, part #16082-033, labeled "H2-1" or "H2-2" is not to be used. New pump, part #16082-042, "H2-3" is to be used. This is a factory installation from H2E-16078.

The triples resource page is so handy. I set the pump dead on balls (it’s an industry term) to the marks.

And I picked up my painted parts today. He matched the original side cover I have perfectly.

And I hope it rides good too. I’m calling it finished, at least until whatever the first ride reveals.
The paint is so nice it makes the rest of the bike look rough. You know what that means.....
Let’s see, seven months to the DG meet?

Thanks guys, but most of the credit goes to the painter. I do know how to rebuild a bike but nice paint like this is like magic to me. These bikes are one of those designs I could just look at and like without riding it. Kawasaki got it right on the triples.
