Most of us know about http://www.vintageconnections.com/ as a source for correct style terminals, connectors, crimping tools, and sleeving. Currently on their website they list 6mm, 7mm, 11mm and a couple of larger DIA sizes. I had some of their 7mm and 11mm sleeving. Well, I needed sizes in between their 7mm and 11mm and subsequently found them from two separate sources. From here http://www.cycleterminal.com/sleeve-tubing.html I purchased 8mm sleeve, and from this ebay seller http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-8-black-PVC-tube-for-wire-harness-wiring-loom-cover-wire-protection-more-/251043450094 I purchased a length of their 3/8" sleeve that I determined to be close to 9.5mm which turned out to be perfect to slide over both my S2 ignition switch and tachometer harnesses. Shipping time was prompt for each so satisfaction was .

I buy PVC sleeving at McMaster Carr. http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-plastic-cable-sleeving/=n62at7. They have just about any size you would need on a bike.

The 9.5mm has been damn difficult to find. My question is: is either seller offering the shiny sleeve like
the original or mat black automotive style..

The McMaster carr stock that I have is matte black. No finish options available from them.

I'd call the McM stuff more semi-gloss than matte, but it's definitely not as shiny as the original sleeving. Mouser has the same stuff as McM at a better price, but you probably have to buy whole rolls. They may carry more sizes too. It's all made by Alpha, so you can look up sizes and part numbers on their site if you need a size that's hard to find: http://www.alphawire.com/ Alpha sent me samples of several sizes when I asked, so I could try various wire bundles in them and pick what I really needed.

I know this conversation has been had here before, just couldnt find it.
But as for "shiney black" shrink wrap, its a no go.
Someone explained it to me as follows.
As the molecular structure of the wrap changes with the heat, it also negates any "finish" put on the wrap.

Dunno, made sense to me? Although I think someone swore they could get shiney black shrink wrap tubing.

Opinions? I have bought a few different ones, but none were much nicer than the cheap crap from HF if you ask me.

Buy the tubing in the original size desired with the shiney finish, take the connectors off and snake the wires through. The connectors remove and attach easier than you think.

I don't shrink it. I just pull the wires through it as you suggest. The finish prior to shrink is not glossy but is OK for me and mine.

Yes, no shrink tubing used over my wires either. I also remove the connectors and use the Lisle tool #14900 (same as offered by Vintage Connections), but I've found that while some of the internal locking tabs that sit atop the terminals depress/release easy enough, others take some time and fiddling with to enable removal of the terminal from the socket/connector. I gave up on one such locking tab and just smashed the socket and replaced with a new practically identical one I got from Vintage Connections. The tubing I got from them is in fact glossy, just not available in every mm increment. Possibly Vintage Connections might be able to obtain the other non-listed sizes also in glossy finish...?
