about 12 feet Jim - the problem was the crankshaft still attached to it - still it saved an expensive crank replacement

There must be an interesting story behind that!

The crank I am happy with - rebuild and balancing from Appleby - looks fantastic

I'm guessing Rod was thinking what I was thinking...if you hadn't yet had it rebuilt AFTER dropping the crank...

As we are all aware, the H1B rotor is unique to that point ignition only. However, the same slip rings and windings are used on H1 thru H1C, only with different drive spuds for CDI or point cam. A clever machinist would be able to either machine a CDI rotor, or make an adapter to fit the point cam onto the A series rotor.

Also, if the winding is OK on that rotor, a slip ring set from any early H1 thru C could be installed, as long as the ohms measure between 3.5 and 5.5 ohms, with no shorts to the rotor yokes. There used to be a lot of rotors that had the windings broken from serious over revving, that would still have good slip ring parts.

And, I am sure there would be one of the ignition people here that could come up with a better situation overall. Or, like fitting a complete D series H1 charging/ignition system.

I have also been following up back home and asked on the RB forum http://kawasakitriplesuk.forumatic.com/ ... f=6&t=6251. Scouse advised "If you end up getting one from the US you need one for a H1B" so that is a second option. There is a guy in Johnson City Tn (coincidentally where my son lives) who seems to have a lot of spares for restoration projects but I can't get him to reply to my mails. I also saw RB at the Staffs show last week and he is checking if he has an old rotor that I can get a specialist company to make one good one form the pair.
