Because they're too bloody loud, and 99% of people who hear them will hate bikes - just like those 120db Hardleys... that's why!! Moo...?

One of my racing buddies was having a birthday, so I took Craig (Stumpy) to meet them. On the way, we were talking about getting "cans" for his bike. Craig was getting the hint when stopping at lights, and in the cars next lane would grimace and roll the window up, or still grimace with the window up. I think what got to him was a Guy at a light rolled his window down and said "I bet that bike pisses a lot of people off".

And that's all stingers really do, is piss people off, just as straight pipes, or open headers do. Most people still don't like motorcycles, and they will one day stop any aftermarket pipes, if we don't police ourselves. I personally HATE loud pipes, and that's why I said I wouldn't work on the bike, to me it is just irresponsible.

Maybe the car in the next lane that would grimace and roll the window up, did so because of all the nasty smelly two stroke pollution pouring out of those pipes. Maybe that's why the guy at the light rolled his window down and said "I bet that bike pisses a lot of people off". That might be the case and if so, wouldn't it be irresponsible to even be working on a two stroke? I do agree stingers are stupid loud, but a lot of "canned" chambers are extremely loud and annoying and won't come close to passing any State's Db test. So if that's the case wouldn't it be irresponsible to work on those?

Kawasaki triples have been pissing people off since the 70s. Just ask any of my neighbors from when I was a kid leaving for school at 7am and I never had stingers. And talk about people with a grimace. Take a look at the crowd enjoying Deal's Gap just after one of those 40 bike group two stroke rides leaves..... don't take me wrong, I love smelly nasty loud chambered triples....but facts are facts.

What is worse; being called a sneaky little bastard or, a sneaky big and powerful bastard?
I agree that loud pipes do not support our cause in residential areas
