Tech question, fork brace looks fixed to the tubes leaving you with what looks like only a few inches of travel hows that work?

That fork brace is a very nice period correct one, that's the way it used to be done before Pierre desRoches, at Racecrafter's in Los Angeles, figured out it should be mounted on the sliders instead.

I know that's a stiffer solution but wanted to keep as stock look as possible. This brace comes off in seconds with two bolts
