The first thing I had done was paint it, I hadn’t actually tried to use it...I kept walking past it and thinking it was sitting crooked. I was worried, but I found that the head was a little to high on the post and the upper support was actually off the post. I took the motor off to get to that and the front bearing had a little play so I replaced the motor bearings. I also cleaned up the wiring in the motor...the power cord had been updated but was still old, so I put a new one on, added grounds where there were not the original power switch on the motor base seemed sketchy to me so I bypassed it. It came with a nifty breaker box so I just use that. I got an old tilting vise and made
Some new slide wear strips for it...I mounted the square d breaker on the wall.
I actually had to drill something metal the other day and it was nice!
I’ll post some more pics later when I get home

I was around 9 or 10 the day the one Dad bought arrived from Sears. As soon as he had it set up and working I was drilling holes in any scrap wood or metal I could find.

:D yes, I remember playing in the garage when I was a kid also!

I added a light and wired it to the box so it comes on with the disconnect, along with the drill. My better half groused at me a little for mounting the box to the wall, but hey, this is my space!

I had to make some sliders for the bottom of this little tilt vice, it had been drilled into many times over the years by a previous owner. Its USA made as well, not sure of the brand though. I milled out the bad stuff and added some stainless wear strips. ( I might have done that at work, shhh)

The vise looks like a Craftsman accessory. I have one that looks the same, and it is from Sears.
