There super tough super smart animals!

We were camping at Fort DeSoto once, they have the metal garbage can covered with plywood covers with 2x4 frames. Heavy, so the varmints don't get in... well, we saw 2 of them holding the lid up while others ran in and out bringing out food for all! Smart critters for sure! :ugeek:

I guess that is a common misconception and they are actually in the bear family. Spent thirteen hours today working on the soffits...right now it's a bonfire....taco bell and mas fina corona!

Sorry, that was actually a comparison not my knowledge of the species, not that I knew anything about them. I made twenty some of the cute little bears go away and you never would notice they were gone, others just took their places.
I have seen 2 of them that were domesticated and appeared to be nice pets. One was trained to use the toilet or a cat box.

I can't sleep when I hear a single rat running around in the attic. I can only imagine how noisy it would be having some raccoons running around in the attic.

Sounds like a dead body being dragged around the attic!

My 2 cents. Borrow or buy a high power pellet rifle. They will kill a raccoon and alot quiter than a .22. Ask the neighbor with the raccoons to run a lawnmower while shooting.

We've had some over the past several years as well, here in Sacramento CA. I've installed a motion solar light, and plan to install several more around the house, for starters.

I found a link that explains that coyote urine (powered in a box) works to keep them away, as they are a natural predator of the coons. http://www.shake-away.com/Deer.php?page=Deer

Thanks for all of the tips fellas--I like the high powered pellet rifle; I do have several bows...but that presents its own challenges. 13 hours on Saturday for the 2nd story sunroom soffit...lots of trips up and down the ladders for this'n. Whew! A little caulking, gutter screws, and some galvanized mesh to keep the birds from starting up in the corners and I'll be done with this one.
