As a mc rider from age 16 until I was 22 (way back in the 60s and 70s) when I sold my mc I'd never heard about counter steering. I just pivoted the bike between my legs and pulled up and down on the bar to get it to lean. Then at age 54 I got back into mc's (mid 2000s) with the Daytona. I still didn't know about countersteering. Then a year or so later I leaned about countersteering and pushing down on the inside foot peg. When I countersteered the first time I couldn't believe how natural it felt and how well the bike turned, almost too well:-) I bet there are lot of people riding that turn their bikes without countersteering. I never ran wide as bad as the guy in the video, but it's a wonderful I didn't. Before I started
consciously countersteering I could corner to the left better than to the right. After figuring out how to countersteer, right hand corners are no different than left ones for me. The guy in the video should of looked to his line inside the corner and pushed a wee bit on the inside bar. Instead he looked outside, thought oh no I'm going to crash and so he did.
