Wife and I stopped in a small Virginia town while on our week long Blue Ridge trip. I always liked the old Volvo coupes but have never seen a 2 door station wagon before. He said it was a 1973 . Got on the internet to see what they go for and the prices are too much for my budget.

Does it have a back seat? Like maybe one that folds down for more cargo space?

From looking on the internet, it looks like it is a hatchback with no rear seat.

I always loved the lines of that car - clearly a different design team than the other cereal box Volvos

The hood looks long enough for a big block Chevy engine. :P

That coupe looks wicked. I did see 1 of those for sale near me not too long ago in Tryon, N.C.. It had some rust issues but overall looked pretty good.

One thing I periodically ponder is because of the hassle and cost of the :e4 biennial smog check requirement for '75-later vehicles here in CA, is to swap an entire fuel-injected motor, drive train and electrics into an older smog-exempt roller. And then I'd also upgrade the suspension, wheels and tires to have a mix of old and new...+ NO smog!!!

Someone once brought a plain eggshell white Volvo station wagon with a small block Chevy to the local Wed night drags, turning easy 13's. This was a sleeper, not loud, but a clean installation.

Today, I would instead choose say a turbo V-6 buick motor in that Volvo!

I dig Volvo wagons.. 8-) especially the late 80s-early 90's 745 and 945 Turbo's
A couple of years ago I bought this one in Orlando, Fl... Flew the family down to do the touristy crap and drove it back. Visited a few friends along the way.

You can squeeze some pretty ridiculous power out of these old redblock 4 cylinders, but yeah..I had (still have?) plans on doing an LS 6.0/6 spd swap.

Sold the car above to buy my wife a newer V70 AWD, but after a few costly repairs and a quote of $600.00 for a duplicate key/fob, I cut bait..... The new Volvos are freaking money pits once they hit a certain mileage. The older stuff will go forever with regular maintenance.

Should have kept the white one above. It was a beautiful car for being 20 years old. The guy I sold it to uses it as his "WINTER BEATER"...
