Hi All, i have a 2000 kawi KDX200 runs great.
decided to instal a trial tech vapor dash.
the instructions say to take power from the headlight conection.
and with the lights on it all works as it should .
But turn the lights off and the tach over reads wildly.
i dont want to run with the lights on all the time .
Why is this and would there be a better place to take the power from ?
thanks mark

That's probably because there is power to the headlight usually. I think you just need another power source location.

If it has a brake light use that power. It will be on when the engine is running regardless of the headlight.

this were the wires go to the voltage regulator.
a brown and a black/yellow.
and there is an inline plug which would a good place to take the power from .
which color wire should i use .
i thought this would be as good a place for stable power
Thanks Mark

Kawasaki generally uses black/yellow for ground and brown for 12v power but you should check a schematic for that bike. There may be a better place to connect. You can use a meter to verify. Another place to connect would be the headlight, but connect to the source connection (before the switch), not the one that goes to the light itself.
