The phenolic epoxy is some amazing stuff. Really strange it didn't stick, it seems to stick to everything. |

Update: I have been working on trying to remove the RedKote since yesterday. I've tried acetone, MEK and now Xylene. I put some screws in the tank to try to get this stuff loose but they are all stuck to the bottom of the tank. Really irritating. From looking inside the tank there is not a trace of the RedKote on the sides, just rust. I'm worried now because my GPz with the high dollar paint job also was RedKoted. I have a Caswell kit standing by and am using the Caswell Seal Mask as well. JaMoo, I tried to get the Plastiease but it was BO'd for 4 months... Finally gave up and of course, as soon as I ordered the Caswell it was back in stock. Sigh... |

No worries. I have other projects that need to be worked on. I just hope I can get this done and still save most of the paint. There is a bubble right in front of the filler cap and another on the very rear of the tank. I am assuming due to pinhole leaks that were uncovered as the red kote came off. I am finding that MEK seems to be working the best. The only way to judge is how red the solution gets. I am going to let this sit sealed up for a while. Maybe I'll let it heat up a little outside.

I still need to deal with the Casewell that is peeling on my ts250 tank, but I got bigger fish to fry right now! I believe I was very thorough with both the prep and the coating. The tank was REALY bad and it’s not leaking yet ... but it’s peeling worse and worse This is what casewell said : If Fuel was getting under the sealer then there had to be an area, that either was not coated or not adhering correctly. You will need to remove the sealer with Paint Stripper that contains Methylene Chloride, And re coat the tank. |

Be very careful with methylene chloride. It's very toxic and gets into to you if you breathe it or get it on your skin. I had a run-in with it about 35 years ago and developed a low platelet count, but recovered when I started being more careful. |
