That is actually the K70, which came on a lot of British bikes at the time, but not on Kawasakis! I have never seen a K77 on anything but a white Mach111. (Happy to be proven wrong!) They did look "trick" in the day!

I have Duro tires on my KH250 (modern tread pattern). For cheap tires they are actually very good. Duro is a long established company that sells a zillion motorcycle tires..time will tell, but I like them.

My reply was to the original post:

Anyone new making a good reproduction tire for an H1 (1970)?

It may not be original tread design but it is a better than a ChenSeng option with imperial sizing and vintage tread design.
Personally, I figure there is a reason why it is hard to find vintage design treads..... safety & performance thru technology advances.

Dunlop (Japan) needs to reproduce the original zig-zag pattern K77, (in a modern compound) which came on the white Mach 111's - it looked great! 'Course the '70 ons had a ribbed tyre, which should be easy to duplicate!

Perhaps on your part of the world.

In eastern Canada Kaw continued to use the zig zag pattern "Gold Seal" K77 on the front through the disk brake 500s, to at least the H1D.

Funny thing, my original 1969 H1 had a K77 on the back too! The rear that came with the later bikes (1971 for sure) was a K87.

Note the effected model year of introduction of the revised front tire was 1974, per the SB. The SBs are all dated 1974.

The 72 750 used the K77 on the front in these parts too, as I recall.

I'm restoring the Z1 and was debating
Whether to keep the Duros.
I rode this bike about 50 miles before I tore it down.
It didn't feel right (front end felt loose).
I'm guessing it was either tires or the lack of the steering dampner.

The z1s are front heavy. (feeling) Mine responded REALLY well to tapered bearings. More than I could have hoped for.

I fitted these on my '73 z1
https://www.z-power.co.uk/merchantmanag ... ts_id=1559
They are a reproduction of the original tyres fitted to the zeds. They look very period and were actually pretty good on the road.Definitely not the height of tyre technology but adequate if looks are important.
