Post subject:  75 Degrees Today!!!!! Dug the H2 out of storage!

Got a phone call this afternoon from my friend Rick (Rixter58 on the KTW board) asking me to meet him for lunch. My bikes have been in the back of my shop in cold storage since the end of last year...untouched :(

I haven't even looked at the H2 since doing the UFO mod.
So a quick call to State Farm to take the bikes off winter suspension and I "should" be ready to go.

Now the H2 has had the same cheap Radio Shack battery in it since restoring the bike, 4 years ago. I just park it for the winter figuring if I have to buy another battery in the spring...whatever. I figured this would be the spring when I turn the key and nothing lights up...
Nope! the stupid thing still holds a charge perfectly! Thats after 4 winters, sometimes seeing temps hit -25 farenheit. Anyways, I looked in the tank. Yep, there's gas in there. Oil in the tank.

4 kicks and she's ready to rock. Took it easy for the first few miles to shake the winter cobwebs off (me and the bike) and then rung its neck.
There is nothing on earth like an angry H2. Those UFO's definetely make the thing a bit more of a wheelie machine now. There is next to zero lag when you whack the throttle. You really have to watch it..especially in 1st. What a cool little mod.

So I pull in to the restaurant parking lot and Rick Decided to drive his Triple too!! as in Triple-Wheeled "Freeway"..

Talk about odd couple.

I am no tire expert, but is that front tire on backwards, it looks like it might be channeling water into the center of the tire when water is on the road?? Just an observation.. Nice looking bike!

Its an Avon AM26 Roadrider and is sold as both a front AND rear tire.
When on the front, the tread pattern is as such, when on the rear, the tires' rotation is reversed.

So... you are "sorta" correct. IF, I would have had it mounted on the back

These tires are slated for replacement in the next week or so with BT45's. Ive never really liked how they felt. Sorta "vague".
The rear is shot, but I'll keep the front around if I ever come across an S-Series bike or an RD that needs a rear tire. There's still a few thousand miles left in it.

I have Avon am22's on my Rd, rear tire is mounte backwards? Something I don't get. Pricey tires! Too bad they are rotted. Is that front fender on your bike stock? Looks great!

I liked the AM22's. These new AM26's I think are supposed to be a "crossover" tire, somewhere between roadrace and touring.
Yeah, there is an arrow on the sidewall stating which direction it should point depending on front/rear mounting?
http://www.amazon.com/AVON-ROADRIDER-AM26-FRONT-REAR/dp/tech-data/B005T3D1CC

The front wheel is 18", so the fender is an S3 fender mounted on a late ('74 on up) H1/H2 mount.

and thanks!
