Guys, Ive got some gouges that need cleaning up on the base gasket area, and Im wondering how much the machinist could mill before worrying about thicker (or stacked) base gaskets, to get port timing back to perfect. Meaning, will as little as .010" even be noticable as far as drivability and power is concerned? I understand that compression will go up a "smidge", but shouldn't be THAT much?

thanks for the help :)

I don't think .010 would be noticable Cody.

if the gouges are lees tha 0.010 deep i would thinkl the gasket material would absorb that,
but if they travel right across the surface couldnt a smear of devcon or jb weld solve the issue.
cheers mark

The deed has been done. I had him machine .010 out and it JUST cleaned up the gouges. I used JB weld in a couple of other places, but more than anything, its just nice to know that all of the machined surfaces are DEAD FLAT.

Thanks guys.
