Post subject:  Recent Strokerface Visit!

Greetings all,
Week ago Jim trucked his h1 out here for a looksee. seems on the driving return to VA last time his triple started losing power, etc, but he made it home.
So we corrected some deficiencies first, unmodified clutch cover, petcock handle added, complete gen system as brushes went away, decide carbs seem a little off by poor cable and adjustments, which is the purpose of topic.
he left it here because he is going to install those beautiful unpainted treasures conjured up here by a magician and we will need to rejet/adjust/install new cable for repair.
my question to you all is , i think these pipes have been out there long enough that some tuning for h1 would already exist? it is basically stock engine/gearing . Jim doesn''t race his h1[lol cept when he's on it], but really he doesn''t need a purchase of a large expensive jetting assortment kit as i think this is all he is wanting to do to his 75.
sorry for long post, but even replicas of originals may still have certain cingularities, so if any can save a little jap squatting time and hunching over that decrepit black 500 it would be appreciated!
ps:he was supposed to be helping me fire off ol blue and prep her some for gap. i fired it while he was on a test drive, bermed out of the garage into the grape arbor, fishtailed out driveway to 100 down road and nearly up hill, overshot drive, and was helped off upon return to go upstairs and change clothing-
and he returns and gripes i didn't air up tires etc after sitting 18 months- so much for the first break in mile.
GOD IT WAS WONDERFUL!!

The one thing I can tell you fur sure is that they are very close reproductions of Dencos. I suspect there's more variation among real Dencos than the difference between Strokerfaces set and the ones I made the drawings from. I would think you could go by the Denco chambers entries in Mraxl's jetting examples spreadsheet and get as close to correct as you can without going through the necessary carb tuning process first hand.

Resource Site Jetting Examples

Like you, I'd be very interested in hearing from the guys who have my H1 repros about their jetting experiences. When they've asked me, I've always said that Denco recommended main jets 3 (2 for early H1) sizes larger than stock, but that going through the process described in the resource site is the only correct and safe way to do it.

Thank you for the compliment, but I'm pretty sure I don't deserve the description of "magician".

jim,
the compliment is very well deserved!
i figured to do by old denco info if nothing popped up, but like all things duplicated, things are never exact, thus the post.
i saw my first duplicated engine at the long point dealership of tony's motors, later assisting at shepard, never exact, but close enuff for street racing till OCU made life miserable, lol.
it was a blast working on another's triple, took me back a long way. it was cool having what he needed here, that was just lucky i guess.

your QC Standards are much higher than original, lol, was about to put a set on a fellows h1 back in the day , and realized it was missing 1 1/2 of weld,

Jim,your pipes are the best thing to happen to Kawasaki triples since I have been into them !!!!!! Maybe people are not into chambers, and thats cool, but if you are,we know how important your pipes are !!!!! Thank you for your beautiful work !!!!!!

What an honor and pleasure it was hang out with bigmo and have him help me with my bike!
And yes I left it there so he’d feel obligated to help again with the retuning. :D
I was amazed at the carnage in the generator with the brushes just disintegrating. Luck is really on your side when there’s a whole dealership worth of bikes and parts on hand!

That was some damned good riding keeping that 750 off the ground after popping over the garage threshold onto the grass. Especially with flat ancient tires and not having ridden in God knows how long. Wish I could have witnessed it (especially with video). I did get to see you overshoot the driveway on the way back and the awesome madman grin. I also got the look from Teresa as if I was somehow complicit in your questionable judgment . . . 8-)

Jim, thanks for the tip. We’ll start with Denco recommended and follow the procedure from there.

I didn't get any photos of bigmo in action but here is some evidence of his badassness

I have been trying since last yr to figure upon a date to gather you smokesniffers ,but with Gap moving up some it will have to be postgap? I had asked around last yr if anyone mite be up for a small bike show at our county fair end of june each yr, but got little response. I really was thinking round end of April? for an annual thing-- how about throwing this up and seeing what suggestions might come? there are probally 24 riders pretty close to this area between baltimore and philly.
ps: The hardest part after sooo long off a ride was no longer being a metal worker with popeye foreams working that perf cluth,
otherwise the instincts and poor judgement were intact.

I'll be going back up there in a few weeks to hang new chambers and do some tuning. Hopefully you can come too. BTW I see you're on dcsportbikes.net I'm WKDBLD over there.
