My H1A has steel forks and the interface between the tube and the leg is a bushing.

I replaced my fork bushings with some I made from Oil-Light (sp) ((brass)), stickey in action, so I am going to give it another go.

I am going to make the next set from 7075 aluminum, what do you think? I am going for .004 clearance between the tube and the bushing. What do you think? Joe Byrd

Hi Joe ,i would think a PTFE material would work better.
mc master carr carry blanks in array of sizes also they do PTFE impregnated with grafite akin to the oilite you used previous.
0.004 sounds like a lot of clearance to me ,i wonder what the kawa spec is.
cheers mark

Or I have an H1A that has low miles and rusty forks. When I build it, it will have a disc brake front end. You are welcome to any or all the front end pieces you need for the price of shipping.

I'd make an insert liner to fit inside the stock bushing, out of phosphor bronze. I'd leave a small step/register at the bottom of the stock bushing, so the insert couldn't slide downward. Hone to fit. If you want to get really fancy, make 'em out of 7075T651, then, do as the later bushes are, teflon impregnate it.

I'd get new ones. Try reprodecals. I'll find out where if necessary. Can't recall who had them at the mo.

Joe,
I got em out. The fork tubes were froze in the triple trees. I had to impact the top cap bolt offs. Then I had to beat them out of the trees :D :D :D
My Bride and I were not on the best of terms so the 2 hours of beating and cussing did me a lot of good. :banghead :banghead :banghead .
They aren't perfect as they came off the rusty tubes hard. But the bike only had 5K on it and they fit a non rusty section of the tubes perfectly with no slop. I will send the bushings and the caps. Do you need anything else?
