Thanks for the sympathy.
Mark: I thought you got it, but now that I know that you didn't, I'm not sure how I feel.
Evans: i didn't take pictures, but I see it everytime I close my eyes.
The guy bought it (in '73) at the same dealership that I got my first 3 new bikes.
It was Smith Brothers Kawasaki/Suzuki. I grew up about 5 miles from there, we used to visit there after school and drool over the bikes and take the brochures home and dream.
This bike was the ultimate "Barn Find", for me.
As I said, 5 minutes from my work. It was stored in a small "Doll House".
He had replaced the exhaust about 4 years ago.
Chrome looked good, seat looked good, guages looked very good.
It had ugly leather saddle bags.
It had 10k and it started and ran pretty good.
I went and saw it at lunch, he didn't want a check.
I was going to get the cash, but I had a meeting scheduled at 1:00,
So I told him that I would call him at 2:00.
His wife called me during the meeting and left a voice mail saying that it was sold.
and the motto from this story is "cash is king"
