This happened to me today. Read a classified ad in the paper this morning; 1973 Kawasaki, $3000. I called and spoke to the original owner of a 1973 Kawi Z1 900. 10k miles, new exhaust, runs, stored with almost no rust. 3 miles from my work! I went to see it at lunch and was almost in shock, as I told him that I would call him back. 1 hour later, I received a call that someone brought cash and it was gone. You'll never know how much I have always wanted a 73 Z1. I have kicked my self the remainder of the day. I'm afraid to go to sleep because I know what's to come. |

I know how you feel. This guy in NY had a nice 77' KZ1000 with 6,000mi, I offered $3,500 he says OK. I'm all packed up to go and give him a call to let him know I'm leaving and he tells me he sold it ![]() I ended up getting a 76'-KZ900 for $1000 less with lots of goodys. |

The irony is: i drove 600 miles in one day to Clearwater Fl. Bought, (disassembled it in the sellers yard), And packed a complete H1A into a rented Chevy Traverse. Along with a new set of Excel aluminum wheels (18"). Dunstall rearsets, an extra H1 engine, and a '74 H1 frame, fiberglass 'Cafe' style rear tail piece. Drove the 600 miles back home the next day and unloaded. No problem. Dang! I hate it when I have to think. |

When it comes to triples and z1s, you have to buy first and then decide if you really want it. Competition for these bikes is fierce these days. I feel your pain though. |

Thanks for the sympathy. Mark: I thought you got it, but now that I know that you didn't, I'm not sure how I feel. Evans: i didn't take pictures, but I see it everytime I close my eyes. The guy bought it (in '73) at the same dealership that I got my first 3 new bikes. It was Smith Brothers Kawasaki/Suzuki. I grew up about 5 miles from there, we used to visit there after school and drool over the bikes and take the brochures home and dream. This bike was the ultimate "Barn Find", for me. As I said, 5 minutes from my work. It was stored in a small "Doll House". He had replaced the exhaust about 4 years ago. Chrome looked good, seat looked good, guages looked very good. It had ugly leather saddle bags. It had 10k and it started and ran pretty good. I went and saw it at lunch, he didn't want a check. I was going to get the cash, but I had a meeting scheduled at 1:00, So I told him that I would call him at 2:00. His wife called me during the meeting and left a voice mail saying that it was sold. |
