I'm building a motor for a guy who lives outside of Philadelphia. He bought the bike several years ago and the seller said it had been sitting, but should run. Gerald decided to strip it down for a repaint and wanted me to go through the engine before he reinstalled it. He hasn't fired it up since he bought it. Good thing. Previous owner installed a ball bearing pusher. That worked once. Also, the previous owner tried to fix bad crank seals... ![]() ![]() |

I asked Jess about this issue recently. I watched Darths video on this topic. It appears the newer/second design addressed this issue. Thought about adding this to your F.B. post but thought it would be better to post it here first just incase the information is wrong. Good morning Jess. I purchased this actuator last fall, August 27, 2024 SKU: sy-tec relea . I have a question concerning the fitment. I'm so close to getting this bike running. I ran across this older video and others concerning transmission seal damage due to the aftermarket actuators. Personally I believe these were earlier designed parts. I noticed that in your images compared to the ones I've seen in multiple videos. That there used to be a snap ring on the end of the actuator shaft. And on the earlier actuators, the shaft is longer. Which caused the seal damage. That is unless a spacer plate is added or the shaft is machined down. Can you verify that either a spacer or machine work isn't necessary. Thank you for your help. Good morning, " No spacer needed with my actuators. They were designed with the seal clearance in mind. (they are a bit shorter)no worries. Thanks Jess" |

There is no issue using the releases that Jess or Ralf sells with the old style seal. I've used both and the seal clearance is just fine. The issue is the ball bearing pusher is longer than the original 4 or 6 spline release and also longer than the Sytech and Ralf's releases so you need to space the pusher out or use the correct seal. |
