I need to order a few wrist pin retainers/ locks? Do I just order the same size as the actual wrist pin diameter? I have Seen various ones for sale. Mine are lost since time forgotten I had bought the pistons so long ago. Need to get 3 as 3 are actually in the new pistons currently. Anyone know an actual part#? |

I bought Wiseco CW16 clips for my Wössner pistons. I think all the 16mm clips are the same these days. They seem to come in packs of two, and I also needed three, so I'll have an extra one that I can lose. |

I never use Wiseco pistons, but if memory serves, they used a square clip groove in the piston, and a common Spiro-Loc, or Spiral-Loc clip. They were a spiral flat design. Look closely at the actual groove in the piston, it should be a square cut design, NOT a rounded cut. Spiro-Locs only work in square cut grooves, if the Wossner grooves aren't square cut, they don't use Spiro-Loc clips. That said, a 16mm Spiro-Loc is a 16mm Spiro-Loc. McMaster-Carr should have a section on them to look at, mcmaster.com. Any good hardware or industrial supply store should be able to get gobs of them. |

The new ones are just round cross-section C-shaped spring clips. Wiseco and Wössner both use them. |

Wiseco used to use the square cuts, sounds like they changed the design along the way. |

Yes, my old dykes ring Wisecos from around 1979 used the spiro-lock type. |

I did notice the flat spiral looking ones which this does not have. I seen lots of the cw16 for sale so I will get a couple sets ordered for this. Thanks |

Jim, How long did those Dykes ringed pistons last? I had a set on for about 50 miles-complete junk. Glad that's over with! Top ring broken all 3-blow-by bad from new, and straight taper profile. cliff |

I had a set of dykes-ring Wisecos' for several thousand miles, back in the day, (+.060") First re-bore after 80,000 miles on the original, if my memory holds up (!!). They worked fine for me, and it was about the time we started filing ports and messing around without knowing what we were doing. Couldn't hear myself think, mind, but no issues with d-ring Wisecos' themselves. Hopeless wrist -pin cir-clips tho!!! |
